Announcements: 

IMPORTANT: Reminder to send out your accommodation notifications for the upcoming Summer semesters after May 15th. You can find step by step instructions under the Student Tab by selecting Process for Current DAS Students. You can also access our video tutorials on the process under the Video How To’s Link. You can make your requests as soon as you would like. We do not release all the notifications until 2 days prior to the start of classes to ensure they don't get overlooked. Please call our office if you have any questions.

RETURNING, GRADUATE STUDENTS, AND STUDENTS WITH INTERNSHIPS/CLINICALS: Please don't forget to set an appointment with our office to discuss any adjustments to accommodations, clinical or internship accommodations, or Graduate School accommodations as early as you can before the start of the Fall 2024 Semester. This is necessary if you have not updated your accommodations that you received as an undergraduate as they may not translate over to graduate courses very well. For returning students that took a semester or more off, you will need to meet with us to re-activate your accommodations.

Students if you have transferred to another NMSU campus for are coming from another NMSU campus, please call our office to notify us so that we can assist with transferring your accommodations to your new campus accessibility office.

IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES:  

STUDENTS WITH APPROVED ESA'S: On August 19th and 20th 2024, we will be issuing the new ESA license tags in the DAS office between 8am-5pm for the Fall 2024-Spring 2025 semester. You will need to turn in your old tag and pick up your new tag which will be a different color for the upcoming year. You will also need to provide updated vaccinations for your animal and updated roommate approval forms. If you do not pick up your new tag and renew your paperwork BEFORE August 21, your ESA approval will be suspended until the following semester.

NEW ESA REQUESTS: Any ESA accommodation applications submitted after August 9th, 2024 will not be processed until after census day, Friday September 6, 2024. Any ESA applications submitted after October 25th, 2024 will be processed for the start of the Spring 2025 semester. No emotional support animals should be in campus housing unless they are fully approved through our office. Any unauthorized animals found in campus housing may not be assessed until the following semester.

Below is a list of resources/departments located at the NMSU-Las Cruces campus that we hope you find useful during your time here. Please get in touch with the applicable office directly if you have any questions about the services they provide. Be sure to reach out to us if you are curious about other resources on campus!

  • Center for Academic Advising & Student Support (CAASS): works in a shared partnership between the student and advisor to the student how to define, plan, and achieve their educational, career, and individual goals.
  • ICT Computer Labs: find the most up-to-date information on where you can go to access a computer lab while on campus.
  • Campus Tutoring Services: offers NMSU undergraduate students free, accessible, and convenient options to supplement their academic experience for our most in-demand courses on campus via both individual and small-group tutoring. CTS also has an online tutoring partnership with Brainfuse for after-hours tutoring.
  • Math Success Center: helps students to develop both the conceptual understanding and the computational skills needed to succeed in their MATH and STAT courses.
  • Writing Center: offers free one-on-one tutoring for all NMSU students and faculty, from undergraduate to Ph.D.
  • Student Success Center: offers a variety of programs and services, including experiential learning, financial education & wellness, learning & study skill workshops, graduate school preparation, TRIO Student Support Services, and TRIO Upward Bound.
  • You@nmsu.edu: find tips and tools for everything from your mental and physical health to friendships and finding balance.
  • Aggie Health & Wellness Center: provides integrated comprehensive medical and psychological services to the students of New Mexico State University.
  • Aggie Cupboard: provides free supplementary food assistance to the NMSU community, including Las Cruces and DACC students, faculty, and staff.
  • Office for Equity, Inclusion & Diversity: centers community and inclusive excellence, in co-creating collaborative and cohesive partnerships systemwide to accomplish a socially just climate and sense of belonging for all Aggies and for our community partners. The Office for EID houses American Indian Programs, Black Programs, Chicano Programs, LGBT+ Programs, and Military and Veteran Programs.   • Student Assistance Services: SAS is committed to student success and understands that sometimes financial hardships, stress/anxiety, food insecurities, housing challenges, and/or unexpected academic issues can create a barrier to academic success.
